Rhys Yorke is a writer and game designer. He spent two decades telling stories visually for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The Expanse, and the Emmy-winning Blue’s Clues & You! before turning to the part of the story he’d wanted all along: the words. He writes dark fantasy, science fiction, and tabletop adventures.

It started with a copy of The Hobbit and quickly got out of hand from there. Maps, monsters, campaigns run for friends around a kitchen table. Rhys Yorke has been building worlds ever since, and the worlds all share a trait: the machinery underneath them works. The magic has costs. The gods keep score. Whether the setting is a cursed stretch of the Trade Way or a station on the wrong side of the Belt, the stories are about what choices cost the people who make them.

For twenty years he told those stories visually. He started in comics on Marvel’s Deadpool and went on to ThunderCats, G.I. Joe, Vampirella, and Robotech; moved into games with Funcom’s The Secret World and Ubisoft's FarCry 5; and worked in film and television art departments on The Expanse, Titans, V-Wars, Polar, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, along with designing the look of Nickelodeon’s Emmy award winning Blue’s Clues & You! Then he built a world of his own: as creative director of Eon Rush, an original co-op action RPG, he wrote the lore, directed the art, and took it to the Gamescom stage in 2023. Two decades inside licensed universes turned out to be an apprenticeship for the work he does now.

Rhys writes: fiction steeped in folklore and mythology, comics, and tabletop role-playing adventures. He is drawn to universes where he can examine the hard choices that plague the human spirit.
